I got tired of never having a decent pine tree model in my library. All the ones I found on the net either rendered like poorly or were major poly-hogs. So I decided to just make my own! And here they are: render beautifully, relatively low poly, user friendly. There are 4 different trees in this scene, each one unique.
High-detailed set of 3D modeled pine trees. Ranging in height from 42 feet to 63 feet. Approximately 25 years in age. Real World scale.
Modeled in 3DS Max 2008. Rendered in Mental Ray.
-- GEOMETRY --
Trunks are modeled as a single element. Individual branches are separate elements. Leaves are modeled as simple planes with alpha channels used in the textures. Modeled with minimal geometry in mind.
Geometry is mostly quads with approximately 20% tris. No ngons.
-- MATERIALS/TEXTURES --
Materials are standard 3DS shaders. There is one common bark map. Each tree has a unique color and shade of pine needles.
- bark map: 500 x 593
- pine needles diffuse: 487 x 360
- pine needs alpha: 487 x 360
