Realistic Planet Earth 3d model

Realistic Planet Earth royalty-free 3d model - Preview no. 1 Realistic Planet Earth royalty-free 3d model - Preview no. 2 Realistic Planet Earth royalty-free 3d model - Preview no. 3
Detailed spherically-mapped planet with daylight diffuse, night light illumination, bump (and alternate normal) maps, with separate cloud layer.

Adjust opacities on the maps to yield better daylight and night light mapping if your view is dominated by one or the other. Replace bump with normal map and/or place normal in displacement for better relief, depending on the light angle.

Animate terrain and clouds independently.

Maps supplied by NASA.

Hey I noob question here but when I download the file it's only a sphere no texture

jsemblante20 ⋅ 4 months ago ⋅ Reply
included in the download is a series of textures, or maps. just map these textures to the various spheres (there are more than one) and you'll have daytime earth / nighttime earth + various cloud and weather maps that allow you to control what that will look like and how it will move. Just BTW if the earth was the size of a basketball, it would be perfectly smooth. Also BTW if you use 3DS Max 2011 or above, you'll have no hassles. If you use C4D or Blender, you'll have to reattach the maps coz they 'fall off'. If you use SketchUp, give up immediately .

Thank you very much for this, it's awesome. Is it legal to use it in a game ? I think it's the best Earth model I've seen.

This is a real photo of the Earth, captured by a weather satellite: https://www.flickr.com/photos/[email protected]/36373377022/in/album-72157684003526412/ I think you will find some big differences between reality and this thing that you call realistic...

This also uses a real photo of Earth, supplied by NASA. This model has independent moving clouds... like reality. This model can have dawn, midday, disk and night time all look correct... like reality. The city lights switch on at night, like reality. The terrain is LIDAR mapped by NASA, accurate to 10m in the vertical. So that's bang on. Best of all, this model is an oblate spheroid, like reality. The flickr image is flat. You're right. That's quite a big difference right there.

can we make like zooming in to a place using this

ramkan ⋅ 8 months ago ⋅ Reply
you're probably better off using Google Earth if you want a half decent zoom resolution. Google Earth is roughly 20,500 Terabytes (over 21 million GB or 20 PB) and I don't think a download that large is a good idea. Even with a kickass connection, you'd be long dead before the download was finished.

Hi, I have a game and I want to put your model in it and sell it is that legal? does Commercial use License mean that I can use the model and sell my game legally?

No problem, just credit NASA if you use the maps
