This model is an early DIII which included a radiator mounted in the upper wing. Later versions moved the radiator to the side of the fuselage. The Albatross D.III was a biplane pursuit fighter flown by the German Air Force (Luftwaffe) during World War I. It also served in the Austrian Hungarian Air Forces (Luftfahtruppen). It was the state of the art, best fighter of its day when introduced in 1916.
