Descripción
Historical American 4-4-0 steam locomotive from 1865, complete with accurate cab controls. Rendered in Mental Ray.
This isn't a model of any specific locomotive, but it accurately reflects American steam locomotive construction. Model includes accurate frame, trucks, injector pipes and driving gear, with each component correctly named. This is one of the few models on Turbosquid that includes interior cab controls.
Scale model has been UV Mapped and the textures - diffuse, specular and bump - have all been included in jpeg format in the RAR file. The textures give the locomotive a weathered, industrial look - somewhat rusty on top and dirty underneath. This was done on purpose to make the old engine look more realistic.
How To Add The Textures
Open the .max model in 3DS Max. Select the locomotive. Go the Slate Material Editor... add the diffuse, specular and bump maps. Do the same for the Tender. A few less important objects (like the chains) have a simple material applied to them - these are not texture mapped.
The loco textures are in 4096x4096 pix and the tender textures in 2048x2048
Note: Make sure you have a fast enough machine that can handle 4096 pixel textures, or you may have to reduce the texture size. A set of secondary textures located in the texture folder have been converted to a lower bitmap quality and take up less space. This model does not support sub-division.
