The AW139 is a brand new helicopter in the medium twin-turbine class, designed with inherent multi-role capability and flexibility of operation. The aircraft sets new standards in the medium twin market, redefining the concept of versatility with unmatched operational performance. With its uncluttered, accessible cabin, it is ideally matched for an extensive range of missions including passenger transport, medical evacuation, offshore liaison, search and rescue, cargo lift, and fire-fighting. A state-of-the-art five-bladed main rotor and a four-bladed tail rotor combine to provide smooth transportation together with high speed and low noise signature. Easy ground handling and taxiing as well as operation from unprepared terrain is made possible by the heavy-duty nose-wheel tricycle landing gear, retractable for higher speed. Fully crashworthy systems and seats are standard in the AW139, while icing protection will be available as an option.
