A capstan is a vertical axle winch used to haul ropes, chains, cables and anchors onto ships. This model consists of the capstan drum, spill pipe, riding chock, pawl, devils claw and other components. The model is built on a real-world scale. Renders were made using VRay and where indicated other renderers such as Mental Ray. Lighting and camera setups were included in mental ray and VRay native 3ds max files.
