La description

This is a Recreation of the Historic Lockheed Altair in the final paint scheme and registration of the LADY Southern Cross flown by Sir Charles Kingsford Smith with Engineer John TOMMY Pethybridge in an England to Australia speed challenge. The Aircraft went down on November 8 1935 near the Burma coast in to the Adaman Sea (As best as can be determined) in the Pre-Dawn hours. This was the Last flight for Sir Charles, and "TOMMY" Pethybridge, debris from the LADY SOUTHERN CROSS washed ashore some time later, not much, a Main Wheel assembly, and little else, the cause and exact location remain a mystery, but it is known, and witnessed at the time, that the Lockheed Altair known as Lady Southern Cross, spat flames from the exhaust of the Radial WASP Engine (Not Unusual) but it lit the aircraft to be seen at night, skirting under the cloud base of a Low, Heavy, Thunderstorm.
