*Fixed OBJ file material - please let me know of any problems.
Closed book (closed version of my Open Book). Low poly count makes this model perfect for gaming (RPG/FPS etc).
- No tessellation, turbosmooth or subdivisions - all hand modelled and clean.
- No overlapping faces, floating vertices/edges, inverted edges, inverted or non-unifies normals, etc).
- 2 morph targets (included in the scene - hidden layer) are used to handle thickness changes from 2cm to 10cm, whilst taking care of cover thickness and spine curve.
- Fully unwrapped - separate UVs for cover and for page edges. No overlaps. All UV rendered to TIFF for easy retexturing in your favourite art package. Professional 3rd party unwrapper used to remove stretching.
- Careful consideration to poly layout on spine to allow for top and bottom titling (title and author usually), and easy change thereof, without stretching.
- Curved outer spine.
- Normal map provides dent either side of the spine, wear at high wear points (spin, corners, slight wear to face around main title, etc), as well as cover and page edge surface-texturing, to add realism.
- All materials in single multi-material for ease of access and efficient material editor slot usage.
- No special plug-ins required. Rendering using MentalRay as included in 3DS Max.
- Real world scale: Hardback Book [including cover] - Width: 24.33cm (to apex of spin curve), Height: 30.5cm, Depth: 5cm (page turn morph at zero).

All in all 14 image files provided.
NB: PSD files are not used directly in the material in Max (to conserve memory in game engines etc and to allow for single PSD to hold several map types). To reproduce each in Photoshop, hide other folders, Undock image, right click image header and select duplicate, check tickbox to compress to a single layer, select flatten layer from the layer menu (not needed but stops save moaning about having to create as copy), and save-as JPEG or whatever format you like. PSD holds, as applicable : Diffuse (may be named COLOUR), SPEC and HEIGHTMAP. Each in a separate folder. UV template is also present in a hidden layer. All layers are named.
Single object, single element (to specifically select, use select by texture id feature in poly edit: 1=Cover, 2=Page Edges).
