It underperforms in higher speeds and cruise flight but makes up for these shortcomings in other ways. The DG-300 has a flapless, triple-taper wing with a 17.5% thickness ratio. It is blown on the underside with hundreds of tiny holes to achieve a controlled transition from laminar flow to a turbulent air flow. As with any racing glider they are affected by insect strikes and raindrops affecting the efficiency of the wing.
