Descrizione
A railway turntable used to direct locomotives or railway cars to different exits.
There are three example exits shifted at 120 degrees each, but of course you can add as many as you need for your project. Exits are pivoted at origin, so it's just duplicate & rotate around Z axis.
The main concern was keeping polygon count reasonably low, so the model is fully dedicated to subdivision.
Specifications:
Topology: quads only, fully subdividable.
Units: metric.
Dimensions:
Bounding cylinder (full, including cabin on top of the platform):
Diameter: 32.5 m, height: 7 m;
Rails length (on rotating platform): 30 m;
Rails width standard: RU/SU 1520 mm; Note, that for your convenience platform rails are two separate objects, so to adjust them to EU/US/China 1435 mm standard simply move them to the (1520 - 1435) / 2 = 42.5 mm to the inside each (along X axis). Since they're supposed to be mounted in concrete platform directly, no cross-ties and no additional adjustments needed.
Materials: all procedural PBR, based on Principled shader, thus widely compatible with modern PBR renderers. No texture files (raster images) used.
All objects of the model are properly parented to each other and grouped into a single Collection.
Possible manipulations:
Platform rotation: 360 degrees along Z axis;
Cabin door sliding: 0.8 m recommended distance along X axis; cabin has empty interior;
And of course you can play with light emitters freely.
UV maps unwrapped (yet never used since all textures are generated procedurally and based on Generated mapping coordinates).
HDRi environment map (Blue Grotto, public domain) packed in .blend for more realistic reflections, as well as put into supporting items separately.
All imagery is done via Cycles / Filmic, no post-processing.
