What it is: This is a 500 frame, pre-simulated, animated polygon mesh in Alembic Format. Dimensions are 100x100 units (m) with a resolution of 300 subdivisions. Alembic is a free, open, software-independent format compatible (via native importer plugins) with 3ds max (2016), Maya, Cinema 4D, Softimage, Modo, Lightwave and many others. Alembic animations are streamed from disc into your scene rather than having to be completely loaded in Memory. Alembic files can often directly loaded in standalone renderers like Arnold, Vray and Octane or even compositors like Nuke and Fusion.* Usage: Load in your application *, assign your favorite water-shader, turn on subdivision and render. The water surface mesh can be translated, tiled seamlessly, scaled and (depending on the importer) retimed. It consist entirely of quads and can be subdivided, deformed and edited in many ways. You can even re-export it and reuse it in other applications. Depending on scaling and tiling it is suitable for lake, pond and moderately calm ocean surfaces.
