A steam-powered roasting jack was first described by the Ottoman-Turkish polymath and engineer Taqi al-Din in his Al-Turuq al-samiyya fi al-alat al-ruhaniyya (The Sublime Methods of Spiritual Machines), in 1551.
This is the Steam Turnspit created by the early Islamic scholars.
This is a replica of it and was shown during the
Scientific Excellence in Islamic Civilization: Islamic Science Ahead of its Time Exhibition years ago in Malaysia.
