This rigid body model of Brabham BT-46 formula-1 race car has been built and rigged for use in Cinema4D taking full advantage of its rigid body simulation module.
The model functions much the same way a real vehicle would. It responds to gravity, it will follow designated terrain and respond to physical variations in its geometry ( bumps) as well as variations in its friction.
The model was built true to its original size and proportions. If you need to change the size, do not scale the model, instead, use the "Scale Project" function under "edit". That will preserve the rigging of both the car and its driver.
The model is controlled like a regular car would be. Steering the front wheels and by adjusting speed. Torque, a force that plays a role in how forcefully the wheels turn can also be regulated. Torque can simulate a transmission as well as be useful in braking.
The suspension set up allows for control of stiffness and dampening as well as the height / clearance of the vehicle above ground. There are 4 motors that rotate the wheels which in turn propel the model forward or backwards on a designated surface.
All controls are set up as XPresso sliders and are accessible under the tab "User Data" of either "F-1 Body" or "Driver" ( for controls of driver's head and hands.)
Arms of the driver are constraint to the movements of the steering wheel, (but can be operated independently of it as well), steering wheel will rotate automatically whenever the front wheels are turned.
UV maps have been created for both the car and the driver.
