Omschrijving
M4 (military index and name-Carbine, 5.56 mm, M4, manufacturer's factory index-Colt Model 920) - automatic carbine, created in the United States on the basis of the M16A2 rifle and originally designed to arm crews of combat vehicles and calculations of weapons and military equipment.
Despite this, the US special operations Command adopted this carbine as a uniform for all us special operations forces. Currently, it has passed and the entire U.S. Army, as the greater convenience of the shortened carbine in modern conditions, when most of the army are motorized infantry, combat vehicle crews and auxiliary troops, more than compensates for a rather slight decrease in its characteristics in comparison with the rifle.
The main differences between the M4 and M16A2 are the barrel of a shorter length and a retractable telescopic buttstock. Variant Colt Model 921 (M4A1) differed from the M4 firing mode: SAFE/SEMI/AUTO, in all other respects is completely identical to the M4.
