Maximum dimension of textures are 4096 pixels. History The Gee Bee Model R was a racing aircraft built by the Granville Brothers Aircraft Company of Springfield, Massachusetts. Two model R planes were built. One as the R1 (R-1) and the R2 (R-2). They were built as successors of the previous year's Gee Bee Model Z. The R-1 won the 1932 Thompson Trophy race, piloted by Jimmy Doolittle. In the Shell Speed Race he set a world land speed record of 296 mph. The R-1 later crashed killing its pilot (Russell Boardman) after a stall. It was repaired only to crash on two more occasions killing yet another pilot. The R-2 took part in a few races as well.
