Farol do Cabo Aghulas Modelo 3D

Cape Aghulas (34° 49’ 58" south and 20° 00’ 12’’ east) is the southernmost land of Africa continent and its LightHouse is located in the middle within Indian and Atlantic Ocean. The LightHouse tower, completed and operative since 1849, is 27m high. The lantern focal plane is 31 metres (102 ft) above high water; the range of the 7.5 megacandels light is 30 nautical miles (56 km). Originally conceived for oil lamps, around 1935 the oil burner was replaced by a 4 kWatt electric lamp and diesel generator. The original lens was replaced in 1910 by a first order Fresnel lens. The overall building design was inspired to Alexandria Pharos; the keeper's house presentely contains a museum. The model, reproduced in scale, includes a similar Fresnel lantern with lenses and prisms. Textured soil landscape (140m x 140m) and sea (334m x 334m) are part of the model.
