The Dash 7 or DCH-7 is a STOL (Short Takeoff and Landing) medium load regional passenger or freight carrier. Originally designed in the early 1970s and first entering service in 1976, it was immediately successful. The DCH-7 was developed from the twin Otter design and developed into the DCH-8 series of aircraft. The DCH was also delivered to several military services to the US Army and to the Canadian Air Force and Navy for Transport and Patrol use.
