Descrição
Gaia Space Observatory
Gaia is an ambitious mission to chart a three-dimensional map of our Galaxy, the Milky Way, in the process revealing the composition, formation and evolution of the Galaxy. Gaia will provide unprecedented positional and radial velocity measurements with the accuracies needed to produce a stereoscopic and kinematic census of about one billion stars in our Galaxy and throughout the Local Group. This amounts to about 1 per cent of the Galactic stellar population.
Model Information
The spacecraft was built using 579 individual objects, is 101 MB in size, and is moderately dense in its construction. It includes all exterior parts, many of the sub structures, and most of the interior parts. The electrical wiring and propellant gas lines were not added to this model.
All pieces of this model can be edited, deleted or moved to suit your specifications. This model could also be animated to close the solar shade.
Included is a simplified version of the exterior body, that is much smaller in size than the current body. The body (exterior) used in the model is very dense, as it was sculpted in zbrush to give a wavy effect. The simplified body could be bump mapped to achieve the same effect.
Mapping and Textures
This model uses 4000 x 4000 sized textures for the various exterior surfaces, such as solar shade upper, solar shade lower, fixed solar panels, body, etc. Each of those parts are 4k maps.
Maxwell Renderer
This model uses Maxwell as the renderer under 3ds Max 2012, and can be changed to what ever renderer you want. There are several basic Maxwell materials that are assigned to the interior structure.
