Descrição
Rosetta Philae Lander
Model Information
This model was built using reference images with exact measurements and within scale, and took over 80 hours to complete. The base model was built in NURBS for accuracy, and converted into a very clean editable mesh under 3ds Max. It should be noted that this model does not include the Rosetta delivery mothership, just the Lander module.
Also available are two universal engineering file formats, .STP and .3DM. Both are suitable for most 3d program packages.
Renderer
The default renderer is VRay under 3ds Max. If you dont have VRay, it is recommended that you import the OBJ or STP formats, which are free of materials and lighting.
UVWs
The 3ds Max model has UVs assigned to the parts where texturing is needed, such as the solar paneling and the leg structures.
It should be noted that both STP and 3DM file formats do not have UVW mapping applied to any part.
Animation
It would be possible to animate this model, all the hinges and articulation points are present.
Rosetta Philae Lander Technical Data
Philae is a robotic European Space Agency lander that accompanies the Rosetta spacecraft. It is designed to land on comet 67P/ChuryumovGerasimenko. The lander is expected to achieve the first controlled touchdown on a comet nucleus. Its instruments should obtain the first images from a comet's surface and make the first in situ analysis to find out what it is made of.
The lander is named after Philae Island in the Nile where an obelisk was found and used, along with the Rosetta Stone, to decipher Egyptian hieroglyphics.
Scientific goals
The scientific goals of the mission focus on elemental, isotopic, molecular and mineralogical composition of the cometary material, the characterization of physical properties of the surface and subsurface material, the large-scale structure and the magnetic and plasma environment of the nucleus.
