Candle mesh, modelled in ZBrush, all quads, Sub D level 1 = 7,800 polys, max. 8mil. polys (ZBrush file included)
Wick and Waxpool meshes modelled in Maya
Candle/Wick textures are seamless, created in Mari except candle displacement map (16-bit greyscale), created in ZBrush
Candle textures (bump, diffuse, specular) are 8-bit .png files which are at a 4096x4096 resolution, shaded with Mental Ray SSS Shader
Wick textures (bump, diffuse, specular) are 8-bit .png files which are at a 1024x1024 resolution, Maya procedural cloth and fractal files added as additional bump, shaded with Blinn Shader
Waxpool shaded with Mia Material X shader to create liquid wax effect
Wall, tablecloth and stone assets are a bonus
Candle and candleflame rendered in Maya 2013 with Mental Ray (Linear Workflow/OpenExr 32-bit file output).The IBL images used can be downloaded for free at hdrlabs
The Maya scene file includes a candle flame simulation which was done with Maya Fluid Effects;
to adjust the appearance of the flame the fluid emitter rate has been keyed and
on the fluid shape node the velocity's swirl and noise and the turbulence's strength value have been altered and keyed over time.
