The model is available in several formats. The Convair 340 was a very popular transport aircraft for the medium haul medium load commercial airlines in the 1950s and 1960s. It was active with major airlines until the mid 1970s when they were replaced by jets, usually DC-9 and 737s. Built for United Airlines and other operators including KLM, was basically a CV-240 lengthened to hold an additional four seats. The wingspan was also extended for better performance at higher altitudes. The Convair 340 was pressurized and could carry up to 60 people in relative comfort It was later used as a charter aircraft and an cargo aircraft.
