SF58 Hornet Space Superiority Fighter Highly detailed aero/space superiority fighter with lots of moving parts. Extendable wings, working gear system, 10 rotatable maneuver thrusters, modeled weapon bays, cockpit doors, weapon turret, and detailed cockpit makes it an ideal candidate to all sci-fi space projects. Cockpit uses detailed maps and controls, modeled partly after real aircraft instruments. The model is realscale, 12.1m wide,5.38m high (with landing gears open), 21.75m long. Original design by me, never used in any commercial projects. The original model was made in Lightwave 3D 9.6, other versions were converted by Deep Exploration 5.5. Due the limitations of conversion, I had to convert all polygons to quads and triangles in all other versions than LWO, and all maps to UV maps. The procedural LWO version also has the ability to change paint schema to other color or camo. This is also the smallest in polygon count, and uses smaller planar maps. The materials used in the hornet make heavy us of reflection and gradients, so take this into consideration when using with many lights. Insignia, numbers, or other markings can also be changed by simple image replacement. This version is best for higher quality stills or animation. The others are UV mapped versions, where I burned the planar textures with most of the procedurals into UVs. These UV maps are huge, but they make procedural evaulation unnecessary, speeding up to rendering. The UV based LWO variant still keeps most of the gradient based refrections, but other formats are lacking these. UV mapped variants can be used for games, however their maps are a bit too large. Reduce the polygon count by erasing the gears, the gearbox internal structure, and the cockpit maps and some of the structure, and try to scale down the UV maps. (especially the internal structure; might be useful to completely delete this map). The ASM226 Missile, which is sold separately too, is included with the Hornet.
