For better render quality you can increase the hair primitives count up to your machine memory limit. The actual rendering time is about 11 minutes for a 1200x1200 frame (rendered on a system based on Intel Pentium i7 with 8 gigs ram) Max format includes shapes used for modeling hairs, so if you use other plugin like (Hairtrix for example) you can use them for hair modeling too. Posed Lion test is made just to see how the fur behaves. The actual model is NOT rigged and it comes in the standard pose.
