Description

Hello. This is a 3D model of a 1972 VW 1303 (also known as Big Bug in the USA and Canada). I haven't seen any other 1303s on Turbosquid so far, so this seems to be the only one. It happens to be coloured (and modeled exactly after) the car that I've been driving since 2003 every day, from Scotland to Romania, Czech Republic to Monaco and Switzerland. The mesh is for the very most part clean and orderly - there are, however, some spots that I couldn't get done any better as they currently are. They shouldn't be too noticeable though, and I hope the attention to detail of an enthusiast combined with the (nowadays) low polygon count do make up for those spots. The UV maps are, contrary to the description, for the most part NOT overlapping. I tried to find the best possible compromise between wasting texture space / memory and sacrificing some functionality. So, while generic and easy to re-UV parts like the glass and chrome and seats may overlap more, the key elements of the Chassis - such as the lids, doors, roof, fenders etc., do not overlap. In turn, I made sure to supply VTF textures for the SMD format, normal maps, specularity where needed etc. If you need additional colors, hubcaps or anything else, I am willing to help out with that. Also, please contact me if you're having trouble of any sort.
