This is a handy dandy template that doesn't use any plugins or complicated code, just a simple flat texture that you can easily change the numbers to any font you you want. The speed of the timers can be adjusted in the dope sheet/action editor or the graph editor. To reverse the countdown so they count down, just reverse the key-frames. It's all super simple and will get you animated numbers without you having to pull your hair out with some strange plugin.
