SF66 Dragonfly Space Superiority Fighter Original design and concept by me, never used in any commercial projects. The Dragonfly is a highly detailed VTOL capable space superiority fighter with lots of moving parts. Extendable wings, working gear system, 15 rotatable maneuver thrusters, 10 ordenance hardpoints, openable canopy, and fully detailed, realistic cockpit makes it an ideal candidate to all sci-fi space projects. The model is fully UV mapped, with comprehensive UV layout, enabling easy retexturing. The concept of the fighter was to create a Vertical Take of Landing (VTOL) spacecraft, suitable to serve on space carriers but capable to land on planets too, thanks to it't powerful plasma drives and articulated vernier thrusters. It has two stubby wings to carry ordenance; a mix of rail guns, sensor pods and missiles, and it is armed with two fixed large lasers. The unusual triangular drive layout and compact size makes the Dragonfly a very agile fighter in space. Because of the drives' high mass, the landing gears placement might seem strange for the first look, but computer controlled vernier system makes landing and take off easy. (centre of mass is somewhere in the aft quadrant of the fighter) The model is realscale. Dimensions are 6.6m wide, 5m high, 13.5m long. The original model was created in Lightwave 3D 11.5. Two Lightwave versions are offered, one with layered UV maps (for easier editing) and one with one summarized UV map per channel. The later version has trigons and quads only, and can be exported easily. Other versions were converted with various software. Please note, that non-Lightwave versions lacks the procedural textures of the original, and might need a bit work. If you can, use one of the Lwo/Lws version, that is complete, and needs no afterwork. The Lightwave versions also come with complete rigging, movement and rotation limiters, and lights to illuminate drives. Ask me for landing gear retraction animation if you need it. The Trigon/Quads only LWO and all the converted versions has 434072 points and 522416 polygons. Notes: The ASM226 Missile is included with the Dragonfly. The Hangar shown in the pictures are sold separately. Look for it in my portfolio. Bundle is possible.
