History
The A7v was the only tank Germany fielded for operations during World War I. They entered operations in 1918 near the end of the war. Only 20 were used in the war even though a hundred were ordered. The A7V was 7.34 meters long and 3 meters wide. Its armor could withstand machine gun fire but not larger calibers. It had six 7.92mm machine guns as well as a 5.7cm cannon. It was created after the British started fielding tanks and it first fought north of the St. Quentin Canal. An A7V was also involved in the first tank against tank combat on 24 April 1918. Due to low numbers and its late entry into the war it didn't manage to accomplish much. Still, it provided an early evolution in tank design.
