This is a realistic model of the subcortical structures of the human brain (without cortex), which is convenient for displaying their anatomy as well as their functional connections.
It contains the following objects:
1.) brainstem (medulla + pons), midbrain, thalamus, hypothalamus, pituitary gland and optic chiasm
2.) striatum (caudate-putamen and nucleus accumbens), amygdala
3.) nucleus pallidus
4.) hippocampus
5.) fornix with mammillary bodies
6.) corpus callosum
7.) ventricles
8.) cerebellum
It was modelled with Blender 2.70a and rendered with Cycles. The Glossy varnish-like materials are added.
