Description
History
Narrow gauge (36”) Refrigerator Car, or "Reefer". Many were built between 1879 and 1886 for the narrow gauge Denver, South Park and Pacific Railroad for use in the Rocky Mountains of Colorado, USA. The Tiffany style and lettering was the most popular. Ice was dropped into a compartment from hatches on the roof.
This historically accurate and highly detailed full scale (1:1) Reefer would be an ideal Key Asset to late 19th Century period or Western themed set design and imaging, and is capable of extreme close-ups and rendering. It is a perfect companion to my C-16-60 locomotive (615818), Waycar (Caboose) (772167), Boxcar (772159), Track (772135) and Trestle (703177).
The Model
The SolidWorks™ CAD model was reverse-engineered from original builder's folio drawings and period photographs. It is representative of my museum quality work in the field of Industrial Archeology (IA).
The rendered images depict a period correct color in white with black lettering. They were also painted a soft buttercup yellow, and orange in the later years.
I color-mapped the features and appropriate surfaces to allow simplified material and color application to suit your scheme. The lettering was created in SolidWorks as a 'Split Line' with color-mapped faces, and is not actual geometry, allowing the use of your own labels or decals.
The high resolution model contains 1,298,338 polys. All parts and/or surfaces were color mapped within SolidWorks™, and migrated to the .obj format. I offer it in several appropriate formats for various import requirements.
The SolidWorks™ model was converted into the .obj format using SimLab Animator. Rendering is in KeyShot 4 Pro from Luxion.
