Description

A simple Viking shield designed as if it was new. This is the lower poly model. I have designed it to be accurate to the era in every way I could. the nails are iron, the boss and banding are polished steel and the shield is made of pine. The shield is done is the forward boss design and has a plank construction makeup with support slats on the back side to negate the "Weakness of the shield" which is the wood grain direction. The handle is done in the simplest style I could find, a white pine handle with leather straps affixed to the shield which hold the handle in via pressure and friction. The handle is prevented from sliding along the width of the shield with small iron nails which affix it to the back face of the shield.
