Description

This is what Stone Henge would have looked like if it were still preserved to this day. Funny enough the big stone arches are not the main attraction of this historic sight. It wasn't even the only henge, with wood henge not too far from it and 2 other henges in its proximity! The little ring of stones are known as "bluestones" and was thought to have healing properties! As such the henge was built around the stones and then the stones were moved into the U shape with the three guardian stones at the opening. It is very likely that stone henge was used as a calendar keeping track of the sun and the moon in the sky and letting the locals of the time know when to harvest their crops. Its also been theorized that the henges could have been used to drape large tapestries over for festivals and cerimonies.
