Description
TBM850 Socata Turbopop Aircraft. High performance single-engine turboprop light business and utility aircraft.
The Daher-Socata TBM 850 was introduced in 2006 and is an 850 horsepower version of the Daher-Socata TBM single-engine pressurized turboprop business aircraft. The TBM 850 is a low-wing aircraft constructed with aluminum and steel materials. This aircraft is powered by a Pratt & Whitney PT6A-66D turboprop, flat rated at 850 SHP (shaft horse power).
The 850 is limited to 700 SHP for take-off and landing, but at cruise flight, the engine power can be increased to 850 SHP, which gives it a higher cruising speed than the TBM 700’s, especially at high elevations. The TBM 850 has a maximum cruise speed of 320 knots true airspeed at FL260 which puts this speed close to light business jets without the added operational expense. It's said that the 850 is the fastest single-engine turboprop in the world. It has a certified service ceiling of 31,000 feet and the climb rate from sea level to 31,000 feet at its maximum take-off weight is only 20 minutes.
The TBM 850 has a dual-zone pressurization system and can maintain a 9,350 foot cabin altitude at 31,000 feet, 6,400 foot cabin altitude at 25,000 feet and a sea level cabin altitude can be maintained up to 14,430 feet. Its maximum payload is 1,443 pounds, a maximum range of 1,400 nautical miles and can land on a 2,100 foot airstrip when using the aircraft's thrust reverser.
