The A-10 Thunderbolt II is an American single-seat, twin-engine, straight-wing jet aircraft developed in the early 1970s. The A-10 was designed to provide close air support for ground forces by attacking tanks and other armored vehicles. The A-10s were deployed in the Balkans to support search and rescue missions, but the Warthogs began to receive more ground attack missions as the days passed and they remained until combat ended in late June 1999.
