The KAZ-606 was the first Soviet tractor with a cab-less design. The car featured an all-metal enclosed two-seat cabin with two viewing windshields separated by a partition. The car was equipped with a modernized 6-cylinder inline 5.5-liter KAZ-606A engine (ZIL-157KYA), which was a modified ZIS-120 engine. Improvements were to increase the compression ratio, increase the rated speed of the crankshaft, and use a more advanced carburetor. This made it possible to improve the filling of the engine cylinders and achieve a power of 110 HP (against the 90 HP of the ZIS-120) at a speed of 2,800 rpm.
