It gained a nickname of Beast killer for its ability to knock out the heaviest German tanks and tank destroyers, many of which were named after animals, such as Panther, Elefant, Tiger, and Nashorn.The beginnings of the ISU-152 came on January 24, 1943, when the first prototype of the SU-152 was unveiled.
