Description

Roman legionary curved shield known as a "scutum." This was standard equipment for legionary soldiers for over 200 years, from the end of the Republic through the middle of the Empire. Made out of 3 thin plies of wood, painted on the front (this design is based on those seen on Trajan's Column in Rome), braced in the back, lined around the edge with brass binding, and given a rounded, brass central boss. This shield has been roughened to give the effect of use on the battlefield. This is a fairly low-poly version that is designed both to look good from close and from distance, and to run well on computer systems. The texturing is PBR-designed, containing information for: color, metal, normal, and gloss. The texture files include RGB color, with an alpha texture to define the metalness; and another RGB for the normal map, with its alpha representing gloss.
